The Philosophy Behind TLS Counselling: Turning Life's Lemons into Meaningful Growth
We have all heard the old, familiar phrase: "When life gives you lemons, make lemonade." It sounds incredibly simple on a greeting card, but when you are in the thick of a life transition, burning out from masking neurodivergence, or navigating the heavy isolation of a faith shift, making "lemonade" feels nearly impossible.
The origin story of TLS Counselling (The Lemonade Stand) began right at my own kitchen table, rooted in the deeply personal, lived experience of raising and supporting a beautifully neurodivergent family. I quickly realized that navigating a world not built for your brain—or your family's reality—requires more than just positive thinking. It requires a dedicated space, practical tools, and someone in your corner who truly understands the terrain.
I built this practice to be that exact supportive space for individuals and couples throughout Milton, Burlington, and the broader Halton region.
My Therapeutic Approach and Professional Background
I approach therapy as an active, down-to-earth partnership. I do not sit in silence taking clinical notes, nor do I treat you like a diagnosis to be solved. Instead, I bring a collaborative, non-judgmental approach that respects your personal autonomy and unique lived history.
Because every person’s nervous system and life path are completely unique, I blend evidence-based therapeutic tools to fit what you actually need. My practice draws from Narrative Therapy, Third Wave Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), and neurodivergent-affirming frameworks.
Whether we are helping a man unpack societal pressures, guiding partners through repetitive relationship arguments, or supporting someone safely deconstructing their faith, my goal remains the same: helping you step out of survival mode and build a sustainable foundation for long-term personal resilience.
